Lehman (LEH, news, chart) is seeing active trading late in the day after a CNBC commentator reported that HSBC (HBC) might be interested in acquiring some or all of the investment bank. After hitting a low of $15.65 earlier in the day, rallied to a high of $16.98 in afternoon trading. Sentiment in the options market remains cautious, however, with 66,000 LEH puts and 32,000 trading on the day. LEH is now up 57 cents to $16.70 heading into the closing bell.
