The CBOE Volatility Index (.VIX) is running to session lows heading into the closing bell. VIX is down 6 points to 56.90 and back to levels last seen in October 22. The volatility index is running lower as the S&P 500 gains 25.91 points to 980 and near its best levels of the day, and the week (984.38). The S&P 500 is up 104 points, or 11.9 percent, on the week. VIX is down 22.2 points since last Friday.
