Options activity is picking up in the SPDR Homebuilders Trust (XHB). The exchange-traded fund, which holds shares of 21 different homebuilding companies, is up 31 cents to $13.02 and 58,000 call options have traded today, or about 10 times (1,050 percent) of the expected volume for midday action. Large blocks of January 14 calls recently traded for $1.10 and $1.15. With open interest of 2,325 contracts, the action looks opening and perhaps some bullish positioning on expectations the 44.4 percent rally over the past dozen trading sessions might continue through mid-January.
