Las Vegas Sands (LVS) is up 72 cents to $17.53 and Feb 18 and 19 calls are seeing heavy trading ahead of earnings, tomorrow after the bell. The top two trades: 3688X2 Feb 18s at 42 and 46 cents per contract — possibly premium sellers. Meanwhile, Feb 19 calls are the most actives. 18,400 traded (58 percent bid). So, while calls are dominating the action, sentiment seems mixed. Implied volatility little changed around 62. 64K calls and 17K puts traded total.

Merck (MRK) is up 2 percent to $37.70 and helping the Dow to a triple digit gain Tuesday after the pharmaceutical giant posted in-line earnings and better-than-expected revenues for the most recent quarter. One of the top options trades so far today is a block of 11K Jan 45 calls on CBOE, which was sold at $1.13 per contract, according to a source on the floor. It might close. Open interest is 26.6K.

UAL (UAUA) is up 9 cents to $16.04 and morning trades include lots of Mar 15 puts at the asking price, ranging between 85 and 94 cents. The top trade is 289 at 88 cents. 12470 now traded vs. 8954 in open interest. Implied volatility is up about 6 percent to 75. No news to explain the bearish flow. Next earnings due mid-to-late April.
