50,000 calls and 5,900 puts traded in Mosaic (MOS) so far today. Shares are up 77 cents to $70.26 and most of the call volume is due to spread trading. One strategist sold the Sep – Oct 65 call spread at $2.45, 7000X and at $2.15, 6000X. Both contracts have now traded more than 17,000. Meanwhile, the Sep – Oct 67.5 call spread was sold at $2.85, 5000X. The activity probably rolls positions opened in late-August. For example, on Aug 23, a 9,340-contract block of Sep 65 calls traded on the $2.72 bid and 2,500 Sep 67.5 calls on the $1.72 bid. Shares are up from about $64.50, or 9 percent, since that time and the strategist is buying back the now in-the-money calls while opening a new similar position in October. The activity might be part of a longer-term overwrite strategy on MOS. Shares have performed well during the past month and are up 20.3 percent from a 52-week low of $55.7 set intraday on 8/8.
